I couldn't find the Wisdom Bee Trophy from my usual supplier, so I decided to give Shop Awards and Gifts a try. I run a trivia show that awards a trophy every month to that month's champion. Here is a summary of my experience:
1. I learned that each line of my trophy's plate couldn't be more than 20 characters. That has never been a problem with my other supplier. Some of the teams have interesting names. The winner for this particular month was "Rudest Nudest Buddhists". With the limitation, I was forced to order "Rude Nude Buddhists" on their plate
2. The plate was scheduled to arrive on Friday or Saturday, January 2nd or 3rd. By Tuesday, January 6th (the day of trivia and the evening it was to be awarded), it had still not arrived. I called customer support and they confessed the process of preparing the trophy hadn't even begun. She was very nice and said she would have it rushed and sent overnight. I thanked her, even though it would be anticlimactic having to give it to the winning team the next week. The trophy finally arrived on Friday (not overnight).
3. When the trophy arrived, the plate had misspelled "Rude Nude Buddhists" and had "Rude Nube Buddhists" instead.
At this point, I was too frustrated and had already waited too long to get the trophy. So the team was presented with a misspelled trophy, we had a laugh and agreed that even if we had to switch trophy designs, we would go back to our old supplier in the future. Which we did.
